A message for sustainability

The main concept of our work was to show the world through the eyes of 6 endangered species in Mexico.

The twenty-first edition of the Vive Latino festival aimed to promote awareness of our global and local surroundings. Through its message, the festival intended to encourage a broader perspective and a deeper understanding of the current issues affecting our society and environment. Based on this concept developed by the Vive Latino creative team, our job was to translate this message into images that were presented on the large format screens on the main stages. Returning to the central eye of this year's poster, we based our work on the concept of the gaze, of the eyes that observe how our mute degrades. By focusing on powerful and positive imagery, we aimed to create a visual language for the music festival that effectively addressed the issue at hand without negatively impacting the mood. Our goal was to inspire a call to action and engage the audience in a meaningful way, while still maintaining a vibrant and energetic atmosphere. We selected the eyes and the world of 6 endangered animals that occupy Mexican territory. The salamander, the jaguar, the Mexican wolf, the loggerhead turtle, the quetzal, and the scarlet macaw. We also looked at the aquatic environment, the aerial environment, the desert of northern Mexico, and the cities to connect with the common places of the festival attendees.

Fans are the headliners and the soul of Vive Latino

Vive Latino asked us for a way to reinforce the connection between the fans and the festival; a way to recognize the passionate attendance and its energizing permanence through the years. With this in mind, we created an activation where fans could take selfies that in a matter of seconds would be projected on the screens of all the stages.

This interactive activity allowed festival-goers to feel a deeper sense of connection and engagement with the event. Seeing themselves or their friends on the big screens, sharing the same space as their favourite bands, created a memorable and exciting experience that brought the festival to life and solidified the bond between the fans and the event.

The system we created operated with mobile cameras that sent the images via wifi to a self-made software that mixed the photos of the fans with dynamic graphic elements of the Vive Latino 2020 image.

A festival to remember

The 2020 edition was the last massive festival in Mexico City before the outbreak of COVID19 in Mexico.
